What changes the price

Shoot length

A half-day is meaningfully cheaper than a full day. Most small-business projects fit in a half-day if the planning is done properly beforehand.

Number of locations

One location is one lighting setup. Three locations means travel, teardown and rebuild — that's the biggest cost driver people underestimate.

How many finished cuts you need

The shoot is one cost; the edit is another. A single hero video costs less than a hero plus six vertical cutdowns plus stills. But the marginal cost of extra cuts from footage we've already captured is low — which is why bundling is almost always better value than coming back later.

Turnaround

Standard is 7 to 14 days. Same-week delivery costs more because it displaces other work.

Project vs monthly: which is cheaper

A one-off project is the right call when you need a specific thing — a launch video, a listing, an event.

A monthly retainer is cheaper per asset, and it's right if the real problem is that you keep running out of things to post. One production day feeding four to six weeks of content costs far less than commissioning each piece separately, and consistency is what actually moves the needle on social.

The honest test: if you've hired a videographer twice in the last year and still have gaps in your feed, you don't have a video problem, you have a supply problem. That's a retainer.

What "cheap" video actually costs you

There's always someone with a phone and a gimbal who'll do it for $150. Sometimes that's genuinely fine — a quick clip, low stakes.

But video that looks cheap makes the business look cheap, and that impression is hard to undo. Bad audio is worse than a soft image; people forgive a grainy picture and leave over sound they can't hear. Most of what you're paying for isn't the camera — it's lighting, sound, and knowing which three seconds of a two-hour shoot are worth keeping.

Common questions

How much does a promotional video cost in Houston?

Feature video shoots start at $500 and single video shoots at $400. Final cost depends on shoot length, number of locations and how many finished cuts you need.

Is a monthly retainer cheaper than one-off videos?

Per asset, yes. One production day feeding several weeks of scheduled content costs considerably less than commissioning each piece individually.

Do Houston video production companies charge for travel?

Bite Media doesn't charge travel within the Greater Houston service area. Shoots outside it are quoted individually.
